National Novel Writing Month

Ah yes, NaNoWriMo. This is the month where we as writers are challenged to write an entire novel in 30 days when most of us can't even commit to an idea for longer than a week. November has a special place in my heart as a month I loth. I hate this month because I was born in it. I hate the fact that I was born. I dislike myself and my meaningless existence. I also hate the symbolism of hypocrisy in this month: holding a day where we celebrate how grateful we are for the things in our life and then immediately after spending a weekend trying to kill each other for a $25 iPad. There are countless other reasons to hate this month, but this isn't what this post is about. This post, and to a larger extent, this entire blog, is about my writing experience. I want to use this blog as a detailed tracker of my progress in participating in NaNoWriMo.

However, there's a twist. Not only am I writing an entire novel in 1 month, but I'm also going to have it published as well. If I am able to accomplish this feat, it will be published digitally on Amazon. (I'm not sure if I'm going to provide paperback copies yet.) Me having my novel published isn't the only twist though. The true twist is the deal I made with myself. If I'm able to complete and publish my novel, from idea to Amazon publishing, in just one month, I'll no longer hate the month of November. Obviously to change one's entire attitude towards anything can't be done instantly. But, I will try my best to not hate the month of November by giving myself an accomplishment, something positive, to associate with this month.

Wish me luck and I'll keep you posted!

The HamaSama Server

So, I was scrolling TikTok, as one does, and I stumbled on this guy playing D&D with Cards Against Humanity cards. A like, a follow, and a few videos later he asks his followers to join his discord server. So, I join, just to see, and was greeted with gay chaos and gaming. I typed a few words here and there, mostly in regards to Hot Asian D&D. If that sounds familiar, it's because I mentioned it as inspiration for my story in a previous post. These guys have so much creativity it just bleeds out to everyone. Somewhere in the disorganized tabs are places for art, both of the written word as well as traditional drawing art.

There’s also a lot of D&D tabs, not just for Hot Asian D&D, but general groups for D&D as well. (By the way, for all of you dice addicts out there try code “HAMA’ at https://diceenvy.com/) The people there are great. My main interactions are with: HamaSamaSenpapi, the owner of the server and the guy from the TikTok that got this journey started. He’s kinda like a goofy anime dad that….well, he tries his best. Tortle (Tor-Tor), the bi-disaster older sister of the group that just allows my chaotic rambles with minimal attempts to correct. Grey beard, the uncle that just kinda sits in his chair and “watches” the kids while the parents are gone. Minecraft God, the younger brother that has a tendency to ask all the questions, but somehow never crosses the line of being annoying.

I’m still getting to know all these guys. I haven’t really talked much. I’m very much an observer. I honestly planned on leaving soon after I joined….but something’s keeping me here. I don’t know, I’ll just exist with these guys and see what happens in the future!

Snow in October

New story in time for spooky season! This story was heavily inspired by my love of D&D and by a discord group I'm in about Hot Asian D&D.
